Your fridge will turn on and off throughout the day and you should hear a ‘hum’ from the compressor when this is happening. However if you hear a louder noise then please check the below.

1.  Can you please check that the fridge is perfectly level (this can be adjusted by using the adjustable feet at the base, we recommend using a spirit level for this). 

2.  Please check that the drip try, that goes on top of the compressor at the rear of the fridge is properly secured in place.

3.  The flow of refrigerant through the evaporator and compressor can cause some noises which is normal.

4.  Sometimes when the fridge is empty the shelves could be rattling if not in place.

5.  It could be that the compressor is working for a longer than usual time. This can happen because of the below:

-  The environment temperature may be high.

-  The door may be opened frequently or even left opened.

-  The temperature control knob setting in 5 state may increase the working time of compressor.

The noise can also be caused by a build up of dust or debris in the fan. Try hoovering the rear of the fridge at the fan area to clear any excess dust or debris and try it again.

1.  A build-up of ice internally can be the cause of poor cooling performance. Please switch the fridge off for 24 hours and leave the door open to let the fridge defrost naturally, remembering to place paper towels down to soak up any overflow of water from defrosting, after 24 hours please reconnect the power to the fridge.

2.  Ensure the fridge is not on setting ‘0’ as this will stop the compressor from running normally. The factory standard setting is number 3 on the thermostat, which we would recommend.

3.  Please ensure the fridge is not boxed in and has a minimum of 6cm gap on both sides, top and back to ensure adequate ventilation.

4.  Measuring the temperature – measure on the inside middle shelf at the back of the shelf only. The air temperature will vary depending on door openings and compressor running cycle. The product temperature is much more stable please keep this in mind when you are measuring the air temperature, not the product temperature.

If you are using one of the Subcold Classic and Ultra range mini fridges then try the following:

These fridges are thermoelectric fridges which means the will cool between 18 and 20 degrees below the ambient (surrounding) temperature of the room they are in.

If your fridge doesn’t seem to be cooling, please try the following.

1.  Please switch the item off for 1 hour to reset it.

2.  Ensure the fan is not blocked with dust/dirt and has space to ventilate correctly.

3.  Hoover the fan area to make sure there is nothing blocking the fan from operating.

4.  Try the fridge in a different location ( away from direct sunlight or heat source.

It is common for there to be a little frosting on the back plate of the fridge. As the fridge cycles itself this should melt and go into the evaporator try at the rear and will evaporate with the heat of the compressor when it comes on again.

However, if the ice build up gets more than a thin covering and becomes excessive then it can effect the cooling performance of your fridge. Follow the below steps to resolve.

1.  Please switch the fridge off for 24 hours and leave the door open to let the fridge defrost naturally, remembering to place paper towels down to soak up any overflow of water from defrosting, after 24 hours please reconnect the power to the fridge.

2.  Make sure the fridge is not on setting 5 as this is 0-1 degrees and will cause ice build up ( recommended setting is 3-4 for normal use).

If you are using one of the Subcold Classic and Ultra range mini fridges then try the following:

It is normal sometimes for a small bit of ice or frosting to appear at the back of these mini fridges. 

If the ice becomes excessive it could be that that as these are thermoelectric and not compressor driven fridges, the ambient temperature of the room they are in gets cold at certain times and drops below 15 degrees.

Please try and ensure the mini fridge is in a room where the temperature does not fluctuate dramatically day and night, especially in winter.

If it does then it is best to turn the mini fridge off at the times the temperature will be low.

If your fridge will not turn on please try the following troubleshooting.

1.  Ensure the fridge is not on setting ‘0’ as this will stop the compressor from running normally. The factory standard setting is number 3 to 4 on the thermostat, which we would recommend.

2.  If there is no power to the fridge and the light is not coming on, please try the fridge in another power socket or check the socket is working properly. If there is sufficient power to the socket, we would recommend checking the fuse and replacing if necessary (13 AMP FUSE).

If you are using one of the Subcold Classic and Ultra range mini fridges then try the following:

1.  Ensure that the mains 240V plug is firmly plugged in the back of the item and it is connected to a UK mains 240V socket.

2.  Re-select the AC mode on the rear and the Cooling mode on the rear. The green light should then appear to show it has power and it is working.

3.  Check and see if the DC power lead works in a 12 volt socket.

If the DC lead works or the AC mains cable will not go in properly then contact us using the form below and we can send you out a replacement cable.

2.  The sides of product having a warm temperature; it is as a result of the appliance working.

3.  The frame of the appliance will be warm to prevent condensation.
